A Guide
Professional cuddle therapy is a somatic form of consensual, platonic touch — fully clothed, structured around clear boundaries and guided by a trained practitioner. It isn't a date and it isn't sex work. It's a service for everyone — touch is something we all need — but especially for people who are touch-starved, grieving, isolated, healing or simply craving safe physical connection. It's delivered in a format that's deliberate and professional from the first message to the last minute of the session.
"Somatic" simply means of the body. Somatic platonic touch therapy works with the body's own responses — slower breathing, a calmer nervous system, the release that comes from feeling safely held — rather than only talking things through. Mind, body and energy are all part of the session.
If you searched "what is cuddle therapy" or "is cuddle therapy legit" to land here, you're asking the right questions. Below is a straightforward look at how it works, what makes it a real, credentialed practice and what it is and isn't.
What Makes It Professional
“I soothe. I hold. I rejuvenate.”
— Luna
In cuddling we create a container, a bubble if you will. And this bubble is very different from the outside world. In this space we connect through touch and space and respect for one another. My energy and attention is focused solely on you.
I can soothe the parts of you that were once hurt. And I hold you in all the places that you've been dropped, so that you can begin to rebuild trust in life and others again.
Sessions start with you. You take the first step by filling out the intake form or by reaching out directly and introducing yourself, your expectations, your hopes for the session and we go from there.
We begin sessions by stating and agreeing to the opening agreement, which is just a reminder that we are each sovereign. It's easy to melt into a cuddle puddle and mesh together but we're still two individuals with our own boundaries and that's exactly where communicating with one another matters most. That's where the magic can happen: once there's respect, comfort and trust between us, that's the sweet spot where healing can occur.
You may be familiar with touch, not comfortable, or it may be foreign to you. We can go at your pace and your tolerance to find the level of touch that you are comfortable with and grow from there. Before we start cuddling, I will ask you if there's a particular position you would like to start from. If you are not sure, I can initiate and we flow from there. But I would like you to think about it, please.
I'm very attuned and I can sense whether you're nervous or at ease. My goal is for you to feel grounded and comfortable. To you, it will feel very natural — but underneath that, I'm actively guiding your breathing and your heart rate, soothing you intuitively through touch and connection. And again, you're sovereign: if at any point you need to adjust or take a break, we do so immediately. This time is for you. Nothing is assumed and nothing is owed.
Cuddle sessions can take place in my very comfortable and welcoming home, at yours or at a hotel — plus a virtual option for when you just need to talk and get a dose of Luna. Even just seeing me can help ground you, especially after a couple of sessions. You can find more details on formats, minimums and pricing by area on the Services page.
Yes — and the "is this real" skepticism is fair, since the space has attracted plenty of people using the label loosely. The way to tell the difference is the same way you'd vet any wellness service: certification, a written code of conduct, transparent pricing and a practitioner willing to talk through boundaries before you ever book.
Consensual, platonic touch also isn't just a feel-good idea — it has a measurable physical effect. Safe touch prompts an oxytocin response, helps regulate the nervous system out of a stress state and is linked to lower blood pressure, better sleep and reduced cortisol. That's the same mechanism behind the benefits outlined on the home page — cuddle therapy is simply a structured, professional way to access it when it isn't otherwise available to you.
It's not sex work. Sessions are strictly platonic and fully clothed and that boundary is non-negotiable and built into the Code of Conduct both client and practitioner agree to.
It's not a replacement for licensed mental health treatment. Cuddle therapy isn't talk therapy and it isn't a substitute for a licensed therapist, psychiatrist or medical provider. Many clients use it alongside psychotherapy rather than instead of it — the grounded, physical experience of safe touch can complement the work being done in talk therapy but it's a different kind of support, not a replacement for it.
It's not a dating service. There's no expectation of romance and no path toward one. The relationship is professional, the same way it would be with any other practitioner you'd book a session with.
